About Me

Hi, I am Nicole – travel lover, bookworm, and dog mum. When I’m not working as a disability/psychology researcher or travelling, you will find me at a café with friends, sunbaking with a good book, spending time with my dogs, or planning my next adventure (after all, the planning is half the fun!)
I am a female with a disability living in Australia. I have a C4 level spinal injury, meaning that I am paralysed from (and have no feeling) below my elbows. I use a power wheelchair and rely on an incredible family and team of support workers who assist me with everyday tasks. I typically travel with my mum (primary carer), dad (wheelchair pit crew and heavy lifting), and my long-time carer (nurse, fellow travel, ice cream, Harry Potter, and animal lover). Occasionally my dogs come along for domestic travel as well.
About this blog
I started this blog because when I tell people about the places I’ve travelled, they ask “how did you go there in your chair”? Through this blog I hope to show the places you can go in a wheelchair. This blog is about the places I’ve been in my wheelchair, what worked, what didn’t, and providing information to help you plan your next adventure.
This blog is not JUST for people with disability. This blog will showcase amazing destinations, and hidden gems to inspire your next trip. This blog will also highlight barriers (steps, bumpy/steep terrain) that can make or break a holiday for anyone – from those with prams and kids, the elderly, to those dragging heavy suitcases over cobblestones!
As a food lover and person with food intolerances (wheat, fructose, onion) who travels with a support worker that is a vegetarian, I will also throw in some tips on the best places to eat!

Chair went there: Where I have travelled
I have visited 18 countries (see map below) and 6 continents. These include Australia (NSW, QLD, Victoria, SA, NT, ACT states), Canada (BC and Alberta), USA (27 states), Chile, Japan, Singapore, UAE (Dubai), Morocco, UK (England, Scotland, Wales), Ireland, France, Monaco, Spain, Italy, Vatican City, Germany, Switzerland, Austria.

Where to next?
In 2026, I’ll be heading to Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, Lichtenstein, Austria, Singapore, and some trips in Australia including the Gold Coast, Sydney, and regional NSW. Expect some big adventures, amazing food, and some more fun stories!
